Do you think that we'll have even more layoffs due to Walgreens Rite Aid Merger?

So years later, the merger has actually gone through and layoffs are starting to happen, can anyone tell me what severance packages is wag offering. Is it 3 months pay or is it only 2 weeks pay per year of service?

We were told for three months during two other stores' liquidations that our store would remain open. We helped close those other two stores while still also working at our own store. They even let us hire in a new cashier, sent her for her tests/bg check etc, and in less than a week later are telling us that no, our store is closing. RA had no idea, it was a last minute WAG decision, and they have basically been letting us lie to our customers' faces (a lot of whom were -really- unhappy or upset or defeated coming from another store that had already closed and were at least willing to accept that we would be able to still serve them) - those customers were lied to, we were lied to, and we feel like we were led on simply so that we wouldn't QUIT before the other two stores were liquidated. Terrible practice, and it's really tragic when customers know the store will be closing 2 weeks before the employees are told anything. We were completely blindsided by the lies. Really looking forward to finding a job elsewhere as seeing how WAG upper management led us on and deceived us makes me not want to work for a company that shady and low.

Employees in mid Michigan are be forced to work off the clock , that makes it hard because the big shots get the bonus bucks for cutting staff and hours

Here in Harrisburg PA they laid off their aircraft mechanic last Tuesday and several pilots have jumped ship to find other work before the end.

They have completely removed the Beauty Adviser position, and they've cut down on Wellness Ambassadors on low volume stores.

They were given less than a week's notice.

Layed off six Wellness Ambassadors in our district this week. Offered some severance some part time positions. Lots of unhappiness and uncertainty right now

No loyalty to long term employees. Firing them to avoid severance is just one of the shady things they're doing.

This is the third ACQUISITION I've gone through and they never end well. I don't know why they persist in calling the Walgreen's / Rite Aid deal a merger when Walgreen's outright purchased Rite Aid stock at the discount price of $9 per share. That bit of information in itself is enough to make one realize who has the power in this scenario. I've been perusing the Internet and read about the impending dismantling of the corporate headquarters in Pennsylvania. I feel worse for the people in that town. Another article I read said that Rite Aid would "slowly fade away," like so many corporate casualties. Although I'm quite nervous about how I will survive without a job, and I know I will likely be gone before the holidays, I will try to look at this as an opportunity to escape retail which is nearly impossible given retail hours. Since 2008, I've been waiting for the time to return again when 4+ years of college actually counts for something. This ought to be a time to reflect on doing something that is meaningful and personally rewarding. Good luck to everyone out there.

They are already firing employees who have been with rite aid for many many years. Pretty said this way they don't have to pay them severance pay. That's what they think about there employees.

How true they are already starting to fire really good employees so they don't have to pay them severance pay. Really sad some have been with rite aid for many many of years. That's what they think about us.

I am expecting to be laid off. I work for RiteAid. I am already looking for a new job. The current job I have with RiteAid I don't like. I don't think they thought out what Wellness Ambassadors are to do, or explained our work duties to the store staff well enough for them to understand our job.

They layed of 48 IT tech's nation wide because we were over staffed due to past managment mistakes and then they buy Rite-Aid , who is going to convert those store's to Walgreens stores? , who going to service the equipment?

You are kidding, right? Of course there will be layoffs. Some reports say 6,700+ are likely. Spread across the entire family of companies, of course.
