OK, Shell 2016 layoffs are finally all over news this morning... We've been speculating about this for a while here, there was a big thread on this topic on &chevron board, but whatever... Anyhow, the 2,800 Shell layoffs will take place in 2016, maybe as early as January, and this is in addition to the 7,500 job cuts that took place in 2015. Shell currently employs 90,000, BG Group has 5,000 folks, so do the math, it's not that massive - but some groups might be hit harder than others. Here is the Wall Street Journal article published this morning (there is at least two dozen other or similar articles floating around - from Bloomberg to Financial Times, everyone is covering it): http://www.wsj.com/articles/shells-takeover-of-bg-group-gets-chinese-antitrust-clearance-1450077006

Grapevine is hinting of another round of layoffs. They (HR) are sending line Mgrs questionnaires like "what type of work do you do", who is dispensable.... ITSO is the next to get chopped?

I have been begging for a severance. If they want to reduce workforce they should find the Old Heads like me and package us out. If I remember correctly in the early nineties they would process us out who was willing and not loose such good talents by this mapping job crap. I myself would like to go for medical reasons but I won't go without a severance esp while shell is handing them out. I have 28 yrs. let my people go
I was laid off back on Aug and my job was outsourced to India for dirty cheap labor. The indian guy I trained to take over my work told me, in very broken English, '...we work for a fraction of what americans make..". What an insult!!. I should have gone to school to be a lawyer. That's one industry that will NEVER be outsourced. can anyone tell me why?
Does anyone know if cutting 2,800 people include Shell staff positions only? What region (s) will be the most impacted? Still see lot of contractors in WCK! If we don't have enough work what these people are doing here? Corrupt Managers or Leads with too many contractors should be fired together.
Fols at One Shell Square on Poydras Street were hit big time last Summer, I hope it will not be as bad
This was expected and nobody is surprised, if the price of crude continues to slide you'll see more cuts - this is Capitalism 101, you got to make money and unless you can grow revenue you got to manage your expenses
