I work for chevron and we have our own problems too,,,there is no talk about a merger with bp ,were laying off too.the oil is a mess right now, but its good for everyone else.would you rather be paying 4.00 a gallon, its 1.55 for regular unleaded at some stations in southeast texas right now.2.00 for diesel, just save all you can and ride out the oil glut storm,,in 1987 I lost my job building drilling rigs ..12 years down the tube,, it will eventually come back...good luck..

Oil prices (WTI and Brent) are very low, as is natural gas prices. The oil and gas industry will continue to need to downsize as long as prices remain below the $55-60 range. Cuts are coming slowly but continuously. Most experts don't see oil going above $55 until late 2017.

Wouldn't the British Government stop this? I wonder if the Brits would want at least one major oil company based there with all the uncertainty in the world.

or is the L48 going to be bought by Chevron.. That makes sense but then again what do I know.

I heard that too. 10,000 out of 30,000 in upstream to be laid off around March 2016 time frame. On top of the previous layoffs, this will not be fun.
