State Street Top 10 List!

As a former employee of State Street I thought it would be fun to put together a Top 10 List of recurring themes or sayings from my experience there. Feel free to comment and reply with your own favorites!

How many times have you heard these gems?!

  1. "There's just not enough time during the week, we're going to need the team to put in some hours over the weekend."

  2. "I know it seems bad right now, but you have to believe that there's light at the end of the tunnel."

  3. "HR took another one of our job requisitions away."

  4. "The company reported record revenues and earnings but unfortunatley the bonus pool wasn't funded."

  5. "Record revenues and earnings have been reported this quarter again but the merit pool wasn't fully funded."

  6. "Remember, everyone gets a 3 on their performance review."

  7. "Well, the other teams are short staffed, that's why we need ot take over their tasks."

  8. "See, the other teams are short staffed too, they just don't have the resources to catch any errors."

  9. "Looks like we're going to have to work late tonight to get through this."

  10. "I know we've talked about it before, but seriously one day we'll put in place a flexible work arrangement for the team."

And one more bonus saying!

Special bonus repetitive saying - "We have to learn to do more with less."

These are just a few of the wonderful recurring sayings and themes that are prevalent at State Street Corp.

Investor services is a complete joke. I hope nobody actually aims to build a real career in this place. Ponzi scheme? ! ? The entire services team, concept, is ridiculous. Can't believe I wasted a year in this dump when I was younger. WOW

LOL also a former employee. How about "we need to streamline our processes and gain efficiencies" "we need to increase capacity" "we're increasing the amount of hours in a work week" (maybe not a repeated statement, but didn't help to work more hours for the same pay!)

"We're not out of the woods yet"

Been that way for almost a decade now! But the upper echelon still gets their rewards. Do the slaves get any of the leftovers or crumbs?

and "we must be vigilant and catch the mistakes from other teams" (while taking care of your own responsibilities and being overworked)

Is the company going to clone each person so the work loads revert back to the mean?

How about this beauty:

Team xyz has been offshored to India, here's a new contact list. We will have to expect that several errors will be committed going forward.
