Calling people ghetto is super uncool. An "institution" that intentionally seeks out people who are desperate to better their lives and promises them job prospects just because those people can get financial aid and pell grants and loans is WRONG. Saying it is the students fault because of your perceiving them as 'ghetto' is basically the same thing as blaming a victim for their own rape. The schools will never improve because they care about profit, not students. Stop blaming the students who enrolled and are trying to better their lives ESPECIALLY when you know the quality of education and materials is dated and inadequate. ESPECIALLY when you know that there is a lack of resources available for students who may be struggling for many reasons aside from your perception of their "laziness." I want the schools to die as much as anyone else but I sure as hell am not blaming the students. The laziest and worst people in this whole situation are the ones at the top and I wish them all the worst, & OP as well bc racism and classism is wrong. Byeeee
As a college educated former employee from a 2 parent household, it's fascinating how people with no real grasp of the situation (and no real ability to type) generalize people's lives. But we know what "ghetto" is code for. It's generalizations like this that harm the student's perception of the education they receive, and the way the hiring world Views them. This isn't a defense of business practices, but it's certainly a message to people like the topic creator that troll places like this without a thoughtful approach or any real purpose.
If, by "ghetto" you mean disinterested, unmotivated, incapable , stipend-sucking illiterates, we will not stop enrolling "ghetto". Those are the only "students" interested in Everest. All the others go to real schools.
Low January projected starts will have Wyotech well below 300 students.
But if we stop hiring ghetto people how will we relate to our students? How many of you management employees have not hired someone because they don't "relate" to our students or understand "where they com from".
It will all be over soon. January shortfall in starts across the board will lead to additional downsizing and on and on until Hawn shuts it down
Yo G , waz up?
