I am working with the Teradata RDMS since 20 years , one year employed with Teradata, most of the time working on a contract for different clients. I only can talk about the situation in Europe:
We have a high price pressure on rates, leading to a downward trend regarding income and quality. In Europe, the situation is that Teradata searches people from countries with cheaper rates and sells them to the more expensive ones. As soon as prices go up, new countries are explored being even cheaper. This trend is speeding up drastically since a few years.
Nevertheless, this downward spiral is neither producing good quality nor good rates. While Teradata was acting in an "exclusive segment with top Teradata experts" in the good old days, they offer nowadays the same (very often low) level consulting everybody else does. This of course results in higher competition as well. Price is king.
