Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

RIF is confirmed.

Trigger pull was delayed by Bob Fair so he could assess the impact given his new COO title/responsibilities. Too bad Hermann was let go. He had the aggressive strategy to turn things around. I guess too aggressive for the "NCR culture" Board of Directors. The good old boys in Atlanta have maintained the status quo ...we as shareholders have lost.

Bob Fair comes across as an empty suit because Bob Fair is an empty suit.

It would have been better if Teradata Board would truly consider a sofwtare as a service strategy rather than selling hardware with nice capabilities. Who would want to invest millions in "iron"that takes ages to implement, where competition (specially newcommers) are being more agily and deliver a capability on demand.

Why wouldn,t they allow potential customers to analyze their datasets for a given fee in a "cloud" or virtual infrastructure, so the business case supporting a major investment is backed-up by a good proof of concept.

No, the board still believess in selling new hardware and then floorsweeping in 2 years time tp upgarde the platform, in the meantime making good money on services.

Well Teradata Board. WAKE UP. This strategy does not work anymore!!!.

Was not impressed by Bob when he took over the marketing business. In numerous interactions he came across as an empty suit. I can't imagine he would do any better the more complicated and urgent situation on the warehouse side.

"Bob Fair knows his stuff" ? He's been in the NCR/ATT/Teradata ecosystem since 1984. Per his Bio on the TD site, he's Credited for "...led the turn-around of the Marketing Applications business" (Aprimo was bought for 500M and will be sold for <150M. He's held several high level strategic positions within the company since 2003.

It's the same blood....he's had influence in the company for more than a decade...no innovation, lagging sales, stagnant culture and mindset.

All this move/promotion results in is a new business card order.
