Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Just a little over a week until the Fed Trade Commission states their ruling. What do you think the decision will be?

Hopefully if/when Sargent goes his replacement gets rid of Demos and Otis.

Just heard on Varney and Company Fox Business that FTC will block the merger. No big payday for Roland Smith.

I think it's going to be a no. Large corporate customers are telling the FTC, it will eliminate competition. I don't think selling off $600 million in corporate contracts to Essandent is enough to move the needle, given the commercial space both occupy. If it doesn't get approved, I think taps will start playing for Sargant, Starboard won't have a choice, but to force their hand and the Board terminate him. He's brought no value to the company at all.

It is interesting you said that. I have been playing a video game over the holiday weekend that allows you to fly ships to trade, pirate or bounty hunt and accept various contracts. One of the contracts available was from a corporation that wanted to "terminate" a CEO without paying a huge severance package out. It involved tracking his ship and destroying it.

I am hoping it is a resounding NO, but I have a feeling the rumors are true and the buyout will be approved with some parts of Depot being sold to 3rd parties. I really want it to fail and see Starboard Value go after Sargent. The problem is, all these guys are going to go out with huge packages, so no matter what, they win and get away with ruining many lives.
