Thread regarding SolarCity layoffs

The buzz is they are really slowing and/or stopping most hiring and will begin layoffs.

As best I can tell, all of solar is slowing down and SolarCity is the biggest. The appear to have stopped and/or slowed down most hiring. One location was cancelled. This seems to be due to two things. The first is dependency on subsidies that are coming to an end. The second is a lease structure that is not particularly favorable and becomes worse for the consume as time passes.

If they would sell at a good price and offer leases as well... things might get better.

They layed off lots of workers here in the bay area in December 2015 and in started hiring March only to stop in April due to another hiring freeze. In July they layed everyone off in Salinas and closed down one of their big warehouses in Morgan Hill. One of the problems is PG&E will give customers the care program which is a discount off their bill of around 35%. Any smart customer will pick this plan instead of a 20 year lease with Solarcity that has a high price tag attached.

We'll see what happens, after so much growth, things have to slow down at some point, SolarCity would not be the first company to experience this and I would not be surprised if we were to have major job cuts here at SolarCity sometimes in 2016
