Thread regarding Sprint layoffs

Severance Payment Reduced - Sprint

The new plan offers one week’s pay for each full year at Sprint for those notified after the end of January that they will be laid off, according to a letter to employees.

Also, a $1,000 “additional separation lump sum payment is no longer part of the plan,” http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/article41237478.html

At least they're eliminating the $600,000 they had budgeted for executive snacks for 2016. Must be rough.

Yet despite their executive no longer being able to hire limousines and drivers (I can't BELIEVE this was included, like we're supposed to feel sorry for this hardship?) I don't see any cost-cutting in Marcelo Claure's bloated and totally unwarranted $21M/yr salary....guess sacrifices are for the little people.

Once you get laid off, is that $1,000 going to make any difference for you. I get the point, but the amount is fully taxable at the highest tax rate, so in reality you would be getting about $500. It's not much, you may pay a bill or two, and that's pretty much it. The big problem that nobody is addressing here is the fact that the cuts will be massive and that there are very limited local opportunities (at least in OP) for finding a decently paid job (not to mention benefits, etc.)

Here is a bit that's going to help a lot: “going paperless” and “eliminating trash cans"
