University of Phoenix will continue to be propped up by Title IV and GI Bill money. Yet they are part of the ongoing #zombiecollege crash and the much larger US college meltdown. Almost all major for-profit colleges are affected, to include EDMC, LINC, CECO, and BPI. HBCUs, tribal colleges, religious colleges, community colleges, and colleges with endowmments below $50M face uncertainty

I agree. But community colleges are thriving in many states. They offer a lower cost alternative, yet good quality education. None of the predatory tactics. These schools prepare high school and college students and offer incredible options in education and also offer transfer options. I would not put them in the same category.
As long as FP's are allowed to feed off their only source of revenue, the federal teat, they will exsist in one form or another as you have implied in other missives. No one wants to risk the 'interested parties' politicical backlash (not the feds nor wall street). Everyone wants to come off like the nice guys at the expense of everyone-oh, just f*** it!
The Obama administration (and the for-profit shills Arne duncan and Ted Mitchell) will try to keep this higher education crisis at a slow boil. The US college meltdown has been slowly going for decades, and the Bush II administration exacerbated the problem with deregulation and corporate welfare.
