Got a call from friend in HR that they were not going to be able to pick me up. That quote, "I would need to find my own way home." They have been acting different all week.

Op is full of it. They will not start layoffs earlier than next week.
Either total BS, or congratulations on announcing to all of HR who you are and likely adding yourself to "the list" if you weren't already on it.
