Well, the downward spiral continues... Millions were spent to create the UOR campus in Denver, although you couldn't really call it a campus because it is on the 16th st. mall in Denver inside a former retail area. Anyway they have stopped taking applications for on ground students and are currently moving their students to online. The director of admissions was let go as well as several executives that ran the school.
If you didn't know, this is one of Bridgepoint Educations schools. When you continually look for prestige instead of substance and quality this is what happens. Leadership thought that Denver was the place to be right in the middle of downtown where lease prices are the highest, poor access to the school, high overhead, and high cost to the students.
it wasn't about vision it was about ego! look at us here in downtown Denver.. aren't we special! there were newspaper articles about BP coming to Denver and how much space they were leasing, a lot of fanfare. And now? they are having to sublease many of the floors they originally leased, hundreds have been laid off during the last 3 years and now the Rockies on ground location is getting ready to disappear. What an embarrassment!
Had they just left the school in Colorado Springs and made the investment there, it would have succeeded and been a great school. The Bible says...where there is no vision the people perish, well the same can be said for a company and schools. where leadership has no vision the company/schools perish. This is what has happened to Bridgepoint. there was no vision, leadership that was put in place at the Rockies had no vision and now we are seeing the results.
How Sad!
PS: This is just pure speculation... it would not be a surprise if they wind up moving the Ashford call center back to San Diego as WASC does not require a presence in Colorado.
