This is ridiculous, disgusting, and unethical! My dad in Toronto was given the EXACT same offer that the Ciber folks got except it was from Adecco/Modis and he is NOT an hourly worker. So why on earth have the Ciber contracts been revisited and not the ones from Modis, or for all ex employees involved in this purge for that matter. These people expect those who have been with the company for years to perform the same job while getting nearly half their pay. How do you expect people to live off of $40,000 when you have a family, a mortgage and bills to pay? And how do you expect employees to perform their duties when their morale is at an all time low

I have no idea, we're still trying to figure that out. We struggled for a bit on where to shift the blame for this catastrophe and I've realized now that it lies with HP and they're poor practices. I'm sure Adecco, Modis, Ciber or whatever staffing company out there is okay to work for, but no job is worth taking a 30% pay cut over. Not sure how we're going to pay our mortgage in the long term, meaning that we may have to sell our house. Absolutely ridiculous!
$40k is a good wage in Costa Rica.

$40k is an insult. Mom and pop shops pay more. HP has been, in recent years, paying 20-30% lower than market in geographic areas where they operate (at least in the US).
$40k? How can you live on that? Are they thinking we can survive living in our cars on raman noodles?
Sure. He worked with HP for 18 years and was laid off in July, given an offer from Adecco/Modis and told that if he didn't except by August 15th, he would lose everything (this goes for a large majority of HP workers in his building) The issue is the offer from Modis, an offer that slashed his pay by 30% or about $20,000 a year and eliminated most of his benefits. Seniority his has become redundant because now he makes $40,000 a year (entry level salary) and is expected to do the exact same job. All of these ex-employees find this offer insulting considering their skills and time at the company, leading many to refuse. But he is nearly 60 and does not have enough saved for early retirement so this offer is really the only choice. He and many of his co-workers say that they would be happy to become contract workers and continue HP just as long as they were given a respectful job offer.
Get back to work you lazy HP workers.

Can you tell us what happened to your father?
But they are all over US (no California presence though): Greenwood Village, Tampa, Atlanta, Chicago, Mishawaka, Overland Park, Southfield Michigan, Rochester, Charlotte, Raleigh, Sharonville Ohio, Mechanicsburg/Pittsburgh/Berwyn PA, Plano and Kirkland WA
Ciber has only one office in Canada, Mississauga, Ontario...
Yes i believe so, but the majority of the HP staff that were laid off in July were given Adecco/Modis offers similar to the Ciber offers in the USA
I make a little over half of $40,000 USD. Who knows why anything. Does Ciber operate in Canada?
