Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Layoffs? What about rewards that get trimmed down more and more every year? Sucky raises, minimal bonuses? Shame on you HP.

OK, now layoffs. Thank you. After all the effort to 'save the project', 'keep the client', tons of weekends, overtime galore, now we will cut 30,000 people. For what? More bonuses for the exec line up. I joined 28 months ago from a smaller consulting firm and was excited. Yet, I realized that HP is such a big company it's very difficult to shine or to be able to stand out. Also, hey, it really sucks that rewards get trimmed down more and more every year. You think it's a temporary thing and that they do not have any more creative ways to cheap-out on rewarding employees, HP execs come up with some new super creative and ultra cheap "rewards system" which is just a new way to give even less to workers. OK, now even bonuses have reduced to a trickle over the years along with raises. So, with this being the case, I am actually looking forward to that layoff and the unemployment that will follow. I am sure I will find something better paying that will require much less personal sacrifice if compared with HP. HP used to be a great name on your resume, but today things are not that good and it may be a liability going forward. I am done with HP.

Rewards system is a joke and the points allocation is dished out by your manager. So, if you've been doing great work but you aren't in your managers good books then guess what? You get zilch. Nothing is fair in HP.

Solution is simple - properly compensate your people. Stop getting more greedy and craftier in inventing ways to short change employees. Giving me "points" and merit badges (hahahaha) doesn't help me pay my bills - stop messing with me, treat me as a professional, with a graduate degree in a complex field I deserve it
