Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Just heard a rumour that it may all be about to start, who knows though? ☺ Guess that's why it's a rumour...

this thread is 4 months old... I just left Aramco voluntarily.. but you can't look at oil prices below $40/barrel and NOT think that layoffs have been projected. It doesn't take a Rhode Scholar to look at the Aramco business lines and ID the ones that will be hit first... and yes that will be partly nationality but also partly grade code and thus overall cost to the company....

The strategy is somewhat different between now and 1986 so I can't see any reductions in Upstream because there are so few expats left and the rate of attrition is extremely high. Add to that the expense and time of recruiting. I wonder if the downstream strategy will change now. I know we are still hiring in Upstream albeit very selectively with the exception of unconventional which looks active based on the jobs website.

The last big one was in 85/86 but rehired back in 88 ...even shut down a refinery midstream of design and all instrumentation had been purchased BUT had the worlds largest garage sale of Foxboro line of process control instrumentation

I am not with Saudi Aramco, but I heard that you were over with layoffs.
