One of the biggest problems I have seen over the last few years is that in a lot of cases people being made supervisor or manager are not really qualified for the job. They were promoted based on being friends with the people doing the promoting, so more like a popularity contest than a job. I am actually fairly well acquainted with at least two people in management positions that this applies to and while they are certainly nice people they really have no business being in management.

Hr was given an unlimited amount of ripe to hang devon with. Unfortunately, 50% of the people they hired are window lickers. That is why everyone on this site has animosity. There are a lot of douche bags working for the company now. It is no longer devon. Between 2012 and mid 2013 we almost doubled. So all those new hires have diluted the original dream with their own agenda. They need to go. And for the record during the "boom" our execs were stupid and didn't get involved in plays. Now they look like geniuses for not putting themselves out their during the boom while now in the bust. After the supervisor evel stupidity increases at this company expotentially. Some of the "new" managers have never found a drop of oil...and that is who is leading us now during the bust.

The visions of CEOs can be limitless in a boom. A person pretty can't do much wrong if your product is selling high.

Unfortunately, now that oil is $40/bbl, and possibly even less in the future, the CEOs have no choice but cut production - and the associated workers. Gotta keep the shareholders happy. That's life in Corporate America!
