There is another path. Most severance packages would be less than $250K. You have very good odds for making more by hiring a good lawyer on contingency terms (lawyer does not get paid if the suit is not settled in your favor) and taking Qualcomm to court.

Keep emotions out of it. Don't do this out of anger or feelings of revenge. It will take a while, be patient. Use your Qualcomm training and do your home work. Qualcomm legal and HR are actually quite inept and lazy and will make mistakes the longer the suit goes.

Reduction of force is hard to overcome. People that believe in them self and know how smart they are will pursue their happiness and they'll be fine. Big company comes with evil politics your knowledge is not what makes you safe. I've been laid off 3 times by big companies. Two of the company doesn't exist anymore because they kept the same management that failed them.

I got out. Life is too short to spend it working for a company that appreciates neither its workers' efforts or their talent.

Jobs come and go..if you are good at what you do... More apecifically if you have solid coding skill..nothing much to worry about...

Getting a job takes time. But invest your time wisely networking and applying for the right jobs, and eventually a job will happen. Every company needs talented individuals to help them get profit. So if you are good at what you do, you will get a job. It might take some time though.

I got laid off a while ago. Decided to take a sabbatical and reset my priorities. Best move I ever made, highly recommended. After all, it's only a job, living life is way more important.

I was prepared for the inevitable, lowered my expenses and stashed $ in my checking account.

That is true. Though the San Diego job market is slightly constrained - especially for skill sets that are unique to some QC jobs, but there are interesting opportunities in the southern California region and the Bay area. Also, Boulder and Raleigh could be good candidates to relocate from San Diego.

I am surprised that some people havent even bothered to look for another job, considering its been like two months since the announcement was made. Thats more than enough time than most compa ies giveo...Srroy, if you aren't prepared by now, you have no one really to blame..
