I got laid off in April. My usually-nice managers seemed suddenly mean to me in the layoff meeting. The "you're laid off" message was harsh enough.
If you, too, got laid off, how did your manager handle the meeting? Hopefully with more compassion than mine...

You were cheated! Treated like an object by a bunch of greedy people They toy with and destroy the lives of those they "let go" so they can line their pockets with cash. That's all that drives them. They would sell their own children for extra cash. I hope the theory of karma really works and the suffering cones back full circle. And best of luck Danny trying to find work in this market.

Advice from hw guy taken out in April and still looking - take any job that looks decent as there are only a few with up to 150 applying for each. Qualcomm layoffs ongoing along with Seagate and Broadcom coming. Get on LinkedIn and network.

I was part of a layoff at WDC a few years back. The worst company I have ever worked for in my life! They love to layoff all of their talented hard workers so they can siphon the cash to the top executive level. Typical WD. ISIS treats people better than this company! While I'm ranting. Mainly hard drive folks being cut. Only a few left in Content Solutions in Irvine as a skeleton crew, so no more cuts there (yet).
They originally planned it for Friday, then HR realized the date is 9/11 and they moved it up a day. Doh!
Severence is the same package as previous layoffs, 4 weeks for 0-4 yrs service, 8 weeks for 5-9 yrs, etc. No ICP though, everyone got screwed this period on bonuses.
