Thread regarding Lockheed Martin Corp. layoffs

Is there any indication on when they'd likely decide whether they will spinoff ISGS, or sell it?

I honestly didn't like the way this was announced, and neither did many of my colleagues, in that they drop the bomb that this is what's going to happen but tell the employee base that information will be forthcoming. Wouldn't the logical thing to do be to make the decision and then have a strategy BEFORE announcing this? I'd love to know when they plan on communicating their intent so that everyone can decide whether to stay and be part of a new company or if they should start looking for a job right away. The question is rhetorical, I guess. Since I don't think anyone knows at this point.

If the current failded Management goes with the sale or spin-off the endeavor is doomed to failure. Beware any stock involved. It has bad news written alp over it. The "real" engineering talent within IS&GS is jumping ship in droves.

Not part of a specific program, so I guess it's a roll of the dice for me. I heard about the medical benefits, officially as of last week in my group. Agreed with your take on the LM Essentials. LM Healthworks was great for our family. Essentials is going to be a challenge. I wonder how much more you will have to pay to stay on Healthworks. I couldn't imagine the premium being insignificant. Such a shame, really. I had high hopes for my future here, as did all of us.

This has rubbed a lot of employees the wrong way. Management knows almost nothing in the two lines of business that were told that they are under strategic review. Lists from HR and senior management are circulating (tightly held lists) of people that will be moving to Aero, MFC, MST, or Space Systems. Those folks aren't being told anything yet. If you are direct to program then you will move with the program. If you are functional staff then you start rolling the dice, because nobody knows their fate yet.

Except now if you are in ISGS your nice medical/benefits are going away, oh and they are going to layoff 500+ people.

Sondra Barbour (EVP of ISGS) is doing this to keep ISGS competitive for a "sale or spinoff."

I'm pretty sure she's not going onto the "LM Essentials medical plan" that she's forcing all the ISGS employees into.
