Accenture to Acquire Schlumberger Business Consulting (SBC), the Management Consulting Arm of Schlumberger, to Expand Accenture Strategy Capabilities in Upstream Oil and Gas

HOUSTON; Aug. 17, 2015 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has entered into an agreement to acquire Schlumberger Business Consulting (SBC), the management consulting unit of Schlumberger, a global leader in oilfield services. The acquisition will expand the capabilities of Accenture Strategy in helping the world’s major exploration and production companies achieve greater competitiveness and growth. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, and completion of the acquisition is subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.

Schlumberger Business Consulting (SBC) is a leading management consulting provider in the upstream oil and gas industry, and a leading player in the energy sector more generally. Used to work at Accenture - here are my two cents. They manage the bench tightly. I mean, very tightly. If there is any kind of blip, and chargeability drops, they will move and cut staff. It will not be swift, but it will happen. They tend to be fair when layoffs happen, severance is OK, you get placement support etc. When it comes to senior folks on the business side (director level), things tend to be fairly brutal, it's all revenue driven and you are cut promptly if your numbers do not add up, it's very hard to hide. Town Hall meeting on Thursday will be the starting point of the lay off story, no physical room for the meeting, because the CIO can't tell the lies on the face of the employees, even the "Permanent Contractors" are started leaving, in my team on contractor is rolling off on this Friday, remember she was with Cameron for last 9 years, now for better opportunity............................
