So Doug is set to speak at Barclay's Tuesday. How does that work? What will he say if they are doing layoffs while he is speaking? If that venue holds I would guess no layoffs on Tuesday, but probably more likely he will cancel or send someone else.

I really don't think the 8th is "the" day. Too many people extended the weekend and HR would spend a lot of time on the phone tracking people down to fire them.
An event late Sept has not been cancelled and it occurs before the 22nd which is more likely to be the real day for layoffs.
