The truth is the majority of the deans, directors and faculty ARE NOT ETHICAL! They teach the classes with poor quality ingredients in culinary or no real equipment in other programs. They follow the moronic corporate models for the easy money. They leave early because no one is watching. They go on smoke breaks and leave the classroom because no one cares. They teach their online classes during their oncampus classes because it just does not matter. They spend their time on their phones because ..... why not? If you care speak up as you walk out the door! I no longer respect ANYONE who is not actively trying to get out of their current work situation at an EDMC school

My advice to any faculty left who see themselves as ethically compromised: start fighting. Make waves, start documenting everything that you think may be sketchy, unethical or downright illegal. Go after these bastards and make their lives difficult. Yes, you may lose in the long run, maybe, but you're going to lose, anyway. Why not go down fighting for what's right? Trust me, I speak from experience, you'll sleep a lot better at night, and after you're long gone from the place, you'll feel good about yourself and have a great sense of self-respect that you fought for your students and you did the right thing.

What does this fighting look like? Put everything in writing, Emails, memos, etc. and organize small groups of like-minded teachers and share everything. Although the accreditors are pretty much worthless as far as actually sanctioning the schools (they are actually partners of management) as is the Department of Ed., once you file complaints with these regulatories, you have a degree (small) of protection. Familiarize yourselves with Title IV and the Code of Federal Regulation (CFR). EDMC schools are always right on the edge of these rules and, from my own personal experience, they are often over the line at the school level. An example might be, for instance, when you overhear-as I did on several occaissions- an Admissions Rep say something about potential income to a prospective student in the hallway on a tour. Document things like this and report them, first to your Director, then your Dean and then your President. Create a paper trail. Finally, file a complaint at the Federal level. EDMC might fire you, of course, but if you've kept the paper trail and it's well-documented, coherent and accurate, there will be no end of the line of employment attornies willing to take your legal case (as a protected whistle-blower) on a contingency basis. There is a possibility, that you might just improve things, including your own life and sense of self-respect.

The faculty who are left are of two camps - they have EDMC credentials (phd/MA from argosy anyone?) so stuck with a worthless education and a tainted job history or stubborn good but burned out long term faculty members only leaving when thrown off the ship. NO ONE wants to be there. Morale is horrible and the education is a joke. DO NOT ENROLL! Students please realize you may not even have a school in the months to come. All (faculty, employees, students) get out now. Yes, of course, layoffs are coming.
