SLB will get rid of all of Cameron's HR/AP/IT/HSE/Logistics/Supply chain everyone who they all ready have one of at SLB will be gone. VP's Directors, Regional Managers, District managers. If your in one of these groups and you have not updated your resume, your a fool. They will come at you side ways and tell you everything will be fine and that everyone has a job and then BAM, your all gone. You think our leaders have not been planning this for a while. Why do you think they have been getting rid of all the employees in IT and replacing them with contract workers. Why do you think they have been moving A/P over to Romania. Wake up and smell the betrayal people. Do you honestly think that Jack or Scott go home at night and think about"Bob" the welder or sales men. Of course not. they said they put the shareholders and the employees best interest first in this decision. Do you think that is true. Why do you think Jack announced his retirement a while back. he knew this was coming. I know a lot of you are young and have never been through anything like this, but i have and it never ends well. You will be lied to and told that everything is going to be OK. then you will walk in one day and your boss will be gone or he/she will be standing there with a box and a pink slip. Look for a heavy police presence in your building when the layoffs start. You better get all your contacts and all your personal info off of your computer and phone because when they come for you, they will not let you get it then. i advise you to take everything in your office that is important to you before the deal closes, because they will not let you go back to your office. They don't give out "layoff" packages when it is a lay off this big. You will get a box and a final check. And don't blame your boss, he/she may go before you. SLB knows what managers they have and what managers they need. There will definitely be Cameron facility's closing. Yes they want the Cameron name, but NO they don't want you. Trust me Jack will be laughing all the way to the bank. Did you see how much money he is making form this deal, holy crap, he should be embarrassed. I got news for all you VP's who think your safe. Guess what your not. That's why none of you knew about this deal and were blind sided like everyone else. That's how you know they are cleaning house people. So fire up those employment web sites and strengthen that resume, because your paychecks and insurance are going away and all is lost. You young people will make it because your still cheap. its the older ones they will chop up into little pieces and feed to the hungry. And you thought things were bad because you had to bring your own coffee and paper towels. ha ha

Totally agree! If you are lucky enough to get an offer from GE, take it. They are good people over there. Money will be less, but investment in you will be much greater and leadership is outstanding. Just keep trying and be open to what you take. There is tons of opportunity there, especially if you are willing to relocate and they will pay for that. If you are young do not let location hold you back.
Yes, GE would have been much much better! You are just out of college....it will be ok. BUT update your resume and be prepared. interviewing companies understand how these things go and if you play it right, you can wind up in a better position then when you came. The trick is to work both ends. Inside, have a great attitude no matter what. keep you head down and do great work while paying attention - eyes and ears open.....pay attention to what's happening, be looking around the corners, network with everyone - even the guy you've never met who's cubicle you pass on the way to the bathroom every day. You never know, that guy could help you get a job. Stay up on your external network and privately float your resume out into the market to see what's out there. Be helpful...not negative as the most helpful that can deliver with a good attitude will go after the trouble makers/noise makers, loafers, complainers, etc. Net is, this will be a great leaning experience you are getting right out the gate. Don't let all the negatives swirling around you cloud your judgement or your actions.
and somebody is acting like the grammar police with this shit around them! insane,
these young pups have not experienced the viciousness of the oilfield layoff cycle, it stings, but you move forward, I have seen skilled laborers in this field considered top 20%, maybe top 10% of their field given the door, this notion that if you are worried you are not a good performer is just not true, people worry about their mortgages, their other bills, their health insurance, tell that to your neighbor, your brother-in-law, and all the people who get swept up in these things
Let's be honest, nobody knows what's going to happen. You can spread your theories, speak from "experience" all you want, but don't speak like you know. For all we know, you're trying to convince others to run scared just to secure your own job. Someone once told me, if you're constantly worried about being laid off, you probably have reason to be worried. Work hard, don't worry about the bullshit. Whatever happens, happens. None of us can control it.
You ask if this is for real.... Yes it is for real and where is it coming from... Experience. Lots of the seasoned employees have been through these buyouts and the economy going in the tank along with oil prices. We have lived it. Only trying to help. And you know who are the ones that came out the best? The first ones laid off. Yes, most have already found jobs and aren't doing 4 people's work for 1 persons pay.
Is this for real or are you guys bluffing? Where is all this information come from? and you just dont layoff one because you have a similar employee right
Run don't walk away from Cameron at this point. It will seem like now nothing will change for a short amount of time. This is simply while all divisions and structures are being evaluated. Then the hammer falls and falls quick and hard. Don't be the last rat on a sinking ship. Actively pursue new opportunities and if a decent one surfaces, don't think twice and don't compare to what you currently have at Cameron, you will be deceiving yourself.
144446 you are an idiot.... The poster speaks the truth. I have been through these before myself. Do what he says. Clean out your computer, get your contacts, take stuff home, etc. you have your head in the sand, just be ready and if they keep you (cough cough) good. But don't sit there doing nothing. Another word.... Don't worry about busting your ass on the job thinking that will save you... It won't. It doesn't matter. The plan is in motion. One good thing.... they got the numbers down by cutting people since last year to get to the agreeable $$ for the purchase and I don't think there will be anymore cuts until the deal is complete and SBJ takes cover. Cameron doesn't care now. Their job is done.
Oh one more thing.., update your resume and find another job and leave if you find one. And the person that had the GE job... Find out if they still have a position available and run don't walk if there is.
Anonymous144446 --> Does it matter whether the Grammar & Spelling? Truth HURTS and the original poster had written the truth, so it sucks. Don't be silly and stupid any more. If you want to correct the spelling and grammar you go to Pre-K and learn, we are all matured and learned and never care about that, content matters.
Original poster needs to spend more time on spelling and grammar, and less time on spreading rumors.
man i just got here at Cameron, this is my first job after college. this sucks. I knew i should have taken that job at GE.
You said it buddy!! The shit will hit the fan.
