Cost Reduction Plan – This will lead to layoffs 100%

This is what we know so far. Claure wants to cut $2.5 Billion in expenses. How is he going to do this? Well, if he eliminates 3,000 positions, at $75K/year he might be able to do that. We have about 30K employees right now, so laying off 10% of the overall workforce may get him close to the target. Tarek Robbiati was kind of open about this in that memo that was sent a few weeks ago. So, if you are in Wire, you may want to start looking for a new job as that group is about to get decimated, that’s just my opinion right now, but if I am judging based on past experiences (and things that VZ and ATT are doing right now), I think that’s the most feasible scenario.

Isn't $75K times 3,000 equal to $225 million? They would need to cut a lot more than 3,000 employees to cut $2.5 Billion from the budget.

It is always sad to see layoffs at the end of the year - just before Christmas and the new year. If you are in Kansas City - the network will ultimately be shifted to California along with the headquarters staff. Wireline is being shopped around still. Best of luck.

OK, Sherlock, was Watson helping with this analysis?
