Guy was so clueless. Didn't know any jobs he handed out. When an accident/emergency failure happened, he would pretend that it was all under control but behind the scenes he would be panicking and shouting at graduates to fix it immediately. If they couldn't then he would make them update the higher ups about the issue; basically not taking the blame for it. The only thing he was good for was arranging pointless meetings to get people to stroke his ego and business trips with his friends (graduates never got approved to travel and were ordered to work after hours even though their contracts state no overtime is paid) and

Part of the problem with merges I guess. hp couldn't exactly cut every single Compaq employee back in the late 90s. Probably why they're in the mess they're in now. Plus, coupled with nepotism yadda yadda
I really do not know who was doing hiring at Compaq, was that person retarded? Really? I've see some folks who are incapable to do ANY work that requires brain
