Thread regarding Becton Dickinson & Co. layoffs

To: IT Team

In September, the IT Leadership Team (ITLT) and I spoke to you about the decision to source infrastructure operational capabilities for our Americas and Asia sites. During this meeting, we committed to sharing more about the initiative once we had the final contract signed. Today, I would like to announce that BD has signed a contract with HCL, a global leader in technology solutions for IT infrastructure operations. We want to share more about HCL and what to expect over the coming months. HCL HCL employs more than 100,000 individuals within 31 countries. HCL provides services to more than 250 customers, including Merck, Shire, Quest Diagnostics, AstraZeneca and Novartis within the healthcare and life sciences space and leads its peers in customer satisfaction. During the evaluation, we conducted a thorough and exhaustive due diligence process. HCL emerged as our preferred partner as measured against our key design principles including: Ability to build a strong relationship and trust Demonstration of service quality and continuity Commitment to transparency and a strong governance framework Capability to drive simplification and consolidation into our operations Vision for innovation We are confident HCL will be able to support BD through effective processes and technological advancements – at a significantly lower cost than we would be able to do ourselves – giving us the opportunity to reinvest in our strategic business objectives and the ability to shift resources into greater business enablement services. The Upcoming Months We understand this represents a significant change for BD and are working to ensure we minimize disruption and maintain continuity during this difficult time. These changes will begin in January, 2016 and be complete at the end of March 2016. As a reminder, in-scope is the Americas and Asia based Infrastructure Operations, specifically, PC and device support, service desk management, data center management, network management and security administration and management. We are committed to treating each of our in-scope colleagues with respect and care. Going Forward The Infrastructure Sourcing Initiative is moving into the transition/implementation phase. Our goal is to maintain our service levels and partnership with the business. For each of you, we ask that you continue with business as usual. Thank you in advance for being open to changes in how we work for the long-term benefit to the organization. This initiative is foundational to achieve our full potential as a Bigger, Better and Bolder BD. If you have any questions, your Leadership team can assist you or you can send your thoughts to our mailbox at BD_IT_Connect@BD.com. Thank you for your support. Rich and the ITLT

Richard Pierle is an unmitigated, self-serving a**hole. He does not respect ANYone below his level in any corporate hierarchy and is a sycophant to everyone above him. He is not a man. He is a petty, greedy, self-centered child.

I am getting tired of hearing "business as usual" rhetoric and "keep doing what you're doing..." This company is f#$ked! The people that are being retained are all part of the "good 'ol boy" club. They will be left with a shit load of work as people leave. HCL stock is falling apart and IBM is planning on dropping them due to poor service and long resolution times. Just wait until R&D can't get business projects completed due to this outsourcing solution. It will bring this organization to its knees.
