The HP HR people are arrogant snobs and love the power!! I have one that is a VERY close family member and believe me, she relishes in the power!! Don't be fooled by any concern that they might show. They also think that they are above getting laid off by HP themselves! If they did not love firing people and the power that goes with their position, they would not have gotten into HR.

I contacted HP HR several months ago to ask about a issue with my job and project. The pretty young lady IMed me and told me that she couldn't help, when I pressed her for details, she began reading the company website to me, then closed my case. Was it solved, no. I'm not sure why we even have an HR department. Their job is to get you off the phone, email, IM etc and close the case.
Sorry forgot to clarify I do not work at HP. I worked in the gas and oil industry.
I was laid off in July and the HR person who conducted my "exit" was laid off in September. :D
Seems to me the majority of the job for HR is shopping for new health insurance every dang year and ordering pizza for company meetings. I do not understand why companies have the need for HR personnel.
