This seems to be part of the business cycle that is Monsanto. Back in the mid-90s when Monsanto was going through joining itself with Pfizer we had a CEO who was very fond of issuing pink slips, particularly at Headquarters, at Christmas time. This happened at least three years in a row. Those of us out in the real world (manufacturing plants) hardly knew who to contact in StLouis for questions because of all the uncertainty going on. It's hard enough to get anyone to answer questions there because they are in meetings 90% of the time or working flex hours that don't coincide with those of anyone else. I'm hoping for the sake of the company that two of the departures are named Hugh Grant and Brett Begemann---they were there long before I retired and are still there.
Its gonna take a while before all this plays out - it will be brutal to wait
It's not like you'd want to work here anyway - It's very hard to get to full-time status from contract or part-time, expect to move frequently if full-time... The company has a horrendous public image, potentially hazardous conditions because of agricultural setting...
