Its sad but very true. Politics do play into who's being laid off. Recently I have seen many good people getting moved into roles that are clearly a backwards step in their careers and others who have no experience nor demonstrated they are capable of producing better being promoted to senior positions. These things happen at all companies but the toxic environment at Shell has seen managers stick up for their friends and punish workers who continuously out performed their co-workers and make their mates look insufficient. Even 1.0+ rated individuals are at risk if their are not best friends with certain managers. Can anyone think of any examples?

That's true in all companies. Word of advice: treat your bosses as if they walk on water (even if they are incompetent pieces of sh!t). Hopefully the system will catch up to them sooner or later.
Trust in God, that the wicked shall be punished. Shell as a company is good but some people practice favouritism and just bloody racist!
You touch some truth there. Some of those laid off had saved shell millions of ringgits, yet they are being laid off. Being a victim of circumstances where their boss had not favoured them for last 3 yrs, had rated their performance ranking low thus made them the victim during the current selection.
This particular woman gets her boss fired for sexual harassment after a bad review. Now having an affair with a coworker at Woodcreek. I guess it depends on who your sleeping with to determine if it's sexual harassment.
Anonymous170721, I said the same thing about your mom!
Really? All I see are ugly women and old farts. Who would do those?
Your correct on who you blow. I have never seen so much infidelity like at Shell. Sad.
No Linda is gone now... But she left behind plenty of incompetence. The arctic deal will cost shell about 8$ billion total over the years... They are already writing off 4$ billion this year... It's comical at best. The key to shell is doing zero work, flapping your gums a lot, and taking people to lunch. As long as you do zero work, and do lots of quick chats and buy people coffee youll rise to the top! Oh and be dutch!!Glad I'm out of that shithole!
Is it Linda at Woodcreek
At least the Eagle Ford geology disaster was that expensive.
" I have seen many good people getting moved into roles that are clearly a backwards step in their careers ...Can anyone think of any examples?" - yes. My role.
Just saw an interesting article on the potential cost of the Alaska project........."The entire episode has been a very costly error for the company both financially and reputational," say analysts at Deutsche Bank, who estimate the Arctic exploration project could wind up costing Shell ~$9B.
It was only $3 billion in Alaska...
It's an epidemic problem similar to Ebola it will never change. This is why shell is so unsuccessful. When you promote incompetence you end up with 7billion dollar dry holes.
Unfortunately, at Shell it's all about who you know and who you blow.
