Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Whole foods doesn't have a money problem

Whole foods is a debt free company, opening new stores with cash every week and doing multi-million dollar renovations in the outdated stores. What they have is an image problem!!! This only makes it worse!!! Too many cooks in the leadership kitchen, not enough brains. They work their employees to the max, for a simple hourly wage while they reap all the big dollars. They've been cutting corners everywhere, from buyers to compostable bags. They need to cut some regional tm's first. They should be the ones held responsible. My coordinators make some of the worst choices month after month. Hey let's stack all this product that is destroying our blended margin!!!! Maybe it's possible that Walter rob and Mack-money have no clue that his regional presidents and vp's aren't businessmen, but merely "yes men". how about all those shitty astl's that told you to "go big" on that display and then said take it down 5 days later and then asked why you had so much in back stock? Or what about that senseless ASTL that constantly made you move a stack around the store. I swear, most of them don't know what's even going on in the grocery business. They should have started this gutting at the top and left the hard working men and women alone. I can't hardly ever get a coordinator to respond to my emails in south region and FORGET about them answering your call. They're busy traveling and taking kick backs. F whole foods, f whole foods very much.

Since my current TL came to our department 5 years ago we haven't had a team build. He saved the company tons of money at our expense. So we should be safe. And they can let him go. :):):):)

Yes yes yes to all of this. It's absolutely ridiculous the show we have to put on the the big wigs come around. It's all such a show. And they are constantly pushing this idea in our faces about whole foods being a place with purpose and conviction. What a load of dog shit.

Well put and my sentiments exactly! Why would you have your top buyers fight each other for the same positions??? I worked my ass off at a job that could have used a back up buyer. My ATLs were lazy. One would click in read emails, drink coffee and then go get breakfast all the while I am speed walking everywhere trying to get my pallets put up before my deadline and he had the balls to tell me I was slow!!!! They needed to cut the fat at the top!

I firmly believe coordinators should be required a certain number of store hours every month. They make labor cuts and other major decisions without realizing the store level impact. When was the last time an EC jumped behind a counter or threw a truck?

I knew 4 weeks ago when I had no targets for FP1. No financial plan at all and I have to do orders. This is about greed. How can we cut labor, mostly high paying benefit holding positions and replace them with lower paying jobs. Now we kill the culture so we can change the structure within. This is a tactic of war.The consultants WFM used could care less about TM and our values. They are there to serve the stockholders. It is our customers who will vote with their wallets.

Thank you for that. Its pretty frustrating that people think any of this was necessary.

Regional team should have been focusing on great deals on items that actually sell, regional team is literally just there to open up new stores! Walks are usually a waste of time although i learn a lot from those. Bring the cost down and the customers in. Look at our margin targets and ask if those are even still realistic compared to competition. Answer our emails and coordinate us thru this mess!

Walks are the biggest waste of time. Hell even a video tour taken on all those fancy ass iphones they bought leadership would be more cost effective.

Unfortunately, that is correct. Or the walks? How much silliness is that! Big salaries walking around criticizing and scrutinizing for bragging rights? Sales. Look at those. If those are awesome, then the store is too and no need to visit. Emailing photos are a lot cheaper.
