Laid off this morning. Was told many others were on the chopping block and that job was safe. Believe no one.

In response to questions- Lay off was completely unexpected. Was re-assured others were on the block before me; however, those people are still with HP. This came out out of nowhere and I was completely caught off guard. Comparing myself in the group, it is interesting that I am the oldest in age.
At this time, it is not wise to mention the area, the group, etc.What I have documented so far may be more than is safe. When severance is formalized, I will try to reveal more. Without a doubt, be assured that this site is being monitored and be careful what you post. Anything that might be used to identify you may come back to haunt you later. Negativity could potentially be used against you when a potential employer contacts HP HR.
As for severance, Healthcare benefit information is extremely vague. I am trying to iron out what they are saying and intend seek legal advice prior to signing anything. Highly recommend anyone being laid off do the same.
As of now, I no longer have health insurance. Spoke with COBRA rep who states COBRA should have been mentioned. It is not mentioned specifically. The verbiage is confusing and vague. Remember, if you make a misstep, you cannot go back, so please, if you are impacted, seek legal counsel before you sign anything. Good luck to all. This is an extremely difficult time for us. We have had significant loss personally related to a death in our family and this is another blow we certainly did not need.
Really sorry to hear this. Can you tell us which area you are in, which City, etc? Are they giving you the full severance package?

Oh my, I am so sorry. Hopefully you live in an area where there are ample jobs. How many people in your group were cut?
What business group were you in? Where were you located? Just wondering if that could help others know it's coming. Sorry to hear about the WFR. I hope they at least pay you severance.
