Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Worked for HP for 8 years.....

I worked for hp for about last 8 years, always had a great end of year review with my manager. In my case all the layoff news were such a lie, they laid off many hard working people that gave their best for the company....and moved those jobs to mexico or guadalajara to hire new kids that knew nothing. It was an insane company to work in, you were always afraid of being fired since 2009, constant trauma, a really long death.

With the help of my manager i managed to move to another area of HP before the full team was wiped out in 2014. Then 6 months later.. when i was on the new team, they also started to fire people, and that was my end.

I was not scared, i was waiting for it, i felt i had enough of them, almost everybody i knew was gone.

A couple months after that i found another job at a software company, with great people, and the company keeps growing, no more constant fear of being fired. The complete opposite to what HP was. I regret that i wasted 8 years at HP, i should had left sooner.

I don´t think they will stop, fears from some inside was probably they would sell their INC part to another company someday.

Now looking from the outside HP is a bad name, terrible name when it comes to PC and notebooks if you know about electronics. Where i live HP means cheap plastic and it will break. They avoid HP at all costs, and they love lenovo.

HP invent says the logo, the last thing they invented was the CD lightscribe.

bye all, wish you the best

I used to be the biggest fan of HP. Encouraging friends and family to buy the laptops and brand. Now everytime I see that lifeless boring HP logo I feel nauseous

@"FIRED" - good post and so true my man, so true. HP's innovation stopped long time ago, once that happens a company cannot thrive any more. HP is milking a large backlog of presold work and slowly dying.
