File an age (ADEA) complaint with your local EEO office. They cannot hide facts as much as they will try to put a spin on it. EEO can subpoena all of HR records and statistics. The age of those let go, the age of those replacing. Even if the replacing people are aged 40+, you can still go after them for wrongful termination. Write your congressperson and let them know this practice that companies engage in MUST STOP.
Yes this is all true. The "program" was tested way back when Yarab tried to make it work. AS things worsened they became more desperate to shed, mostly quality management, more quickly. Enter Otis... The buyout of ODP was suppose to offer the ultimate answer by allowing the lower paid ODP Managers to prevail in every market where stores were to be closed. Well it looks like the FTC might have a different idea. It's funny to watch the retail jokes become more so on a daily basis.
And why did they need to shed quality management? Because they had and have NO IDEAS about how to GROW the business.
