It's been known for while that Apple has a high turnover rate. The engineers working there are not liking the place due to very stressful work place, tight schedules and high internal competition between each other, even within groups. What is keeping people there is the lure of their stock options going to double or triple, which is never going to happen. Since the work place is a high stress place, tough deadlines and long hours no one trust each other to help each other out with projects, problems and/or ideas. Everybody is trying to get a leg up on their internal competition. Ever wondered why Apple recruiters are always looking for people? It's because the people there become burned out and the millions they had envisioned in stock options never happened - not even close.

I fully agree to both posts prior. Apple is not the place for any work-life balance. And the compensation is not that spectacular for the long hours. . Apple will scrutinize every expense report and line items as if the employees are crooks. It is quite shameful and disgraceful to employees when they reject expense report. I think the culture actually came from Steve Jobs who was miserly. He didn't even pay decent money to his ex-wife and daughter -- that he wanted no part to raise -- when they were struggling to make ends meet and were on welfare, when he was a multi-millionaire already. Karma got to his body. Sorry to go tangential.
Once the sales of the iPhone slows down, massive exodus will happen because management has mistreated people -- they think employees are disposable resources -- not human beings. But people are also mad, they want to stick to Apple even if they whip them. And the mad people on the street think Apple is the Mecca of companies and want to join the giant. Unfortunately, the truth gets revealed the hard way after you are trapped in the Matrix.
