Half of the layoffs will be Shell employees and half will be contractors. Some will be through normal attrition .

Heard it from management in the prep meeting before the town hall meeting with Barry Klein last Thursday. They will offer severance packages for people with 26 years or more. They also mentioned that the cuts are targeted at redundant positions and positions with work load swings. The load swing positions will be back filled with contractors where possible. They also mentioned that this was in the works before the announced 6500 cuts as part of their "Acceleration to Flagship" but are speeding up what was already in the works to align with the rest of the cuts throughout the company. They also mentioned that pretty much anything relating to cutting further was still on the table including posting positions. Projects and maintenance are being hit the hardest this round it seems with the majority of contractors be pulled from these groups as they have the largest pool to cut from. They are cutting SLT positions in half and merging a lot of departments. Where there was a position that handled chemical or refinery will now be handling both by a single person instead of two.
Where did you come up with this foolishness?
