Thread regarding Scientific Games Corp. layoffs

Poison company

More layoffs this quarter. They are keeping the low paid folks in Las Vegas instead of the talented people. 8 Billion in debt. and it's the workers fault.

WMS was bloated. From salaries to expenses, they needed trimming. That's a fact. That said, one layoff that occurred at Bally Reno saved a large amount of money, and frankly, was a long time in coming. If you're worried about a layoff in Reno, start making your move to exit now. Why sit around waiting for the axe? Move out of state, and get the hell out of the gaming industry. Wringing your hands over what fate may lay ahead is worse than the layoff itself. SciGames wants to keep the Bally logo, as they are well established in the gaming world and have a decent customer base. Williams- not so much. Williams always has been classified as 'what was that?' in the gaming market horse race. SciGames simply did the same thing as when Ford bought Lincoln-Mercury. Ford needed an upscale product for some of their customers and the Lincoln-Mercury brand gave them that. Don't get me wrong, Williams makes decent machines, but their content is very very stale; hence the axe. If you're going to survive in the gaming industry, you MUST innovate. Bally did that, Williams essentially fell flat on that aspect. End of story. The bottom line is this: only a few folks really know when the axe will fall, and if you're worried about that, you need another job. But then you'll be worried about that at the next one too. So where's the problem? Look in the mirror, me thinks you're looking at it.

Please read the latest earnings report from Sci Games. Note the little hint from CEO in the transcripts that there will be an additional $30 Million in cost savings before 2015 is over from WMS alone.

"By July 31, 2015, we had implemented $184 million in Bally-related annual cost savings and, as a result of accelerating actions originally planned for 2016 into 2015, we are raising our first-year target from $188 million of cost savings to an expected $200 million, while also implementing an additional $30 million of WMS-related annual cost savings by the end of 2015."

Expect this to mean that nearly all of the WMS Chicago office will be laided off or that this office is closing. The signs are written on the wall folks. Bally wins. Get out now if you can and say goodbye to the company that you once knew.
