Upgrade Qcom Hiring Standards

Every Full time/Contract employee hired by Qcom, needs to go through a typical one day long Face-to-face interview process, where the candidate's resume is evaluated thoroughly. This must be made mandatory by Qcom policies.(Every other company does the same viz Apple,Google, Brdcm, etc) No more back door entries now !! Let's get back Qcom to its past glory by hiring the right candidate for the right job ..

My interview last decade was a half day with 5 people with different technical backgrounds, hardest interview I ever had.

My interview when I returned a couple years ago was a joke.

The difference was the quality of the interviewer. You new guys have no clue how far this company has slide down the slide of mediocrity.

pickme_please: you are right on the point....at least QCT has plenty of good engineers turned in to bad managers....and I think they realize it to. I don't think many of sr staff/mrs and directors can find either management or Engineering( even after sacrificing ego) position outside now... those are the people who are shitting in their pants and engaged aggressively in political lobbying to prevent getting chopped... I feel sorry for them trusting so much on QCOM for their long term career planning.

Just look around and see...

And stop promoting engineers to VP level; managing groups and strategy is a very different skill. Just because you are a good engineer doesn't mean you will be good manager/director/VP etc.

it might be a bit late after the titanic has hit the iceberg..... the most difficult thing is change the culture .....culture takes time to evolve..... there are so many people who have got used to not working, providing status reports , meetings and other useless thing....cleaning up the mentality is going to take a lot of time....

Totally agree...Also I suggest there should be rigorous review of hiring done in last 4-5 years and weed out garbage...This is perfect timing.
