More Downsizing!!!!!

So, just found out that at the Rockies Denver location there is some downsizing taking place. They recently had as many as 3 floors in a building in Downtown Denver that were used for a call center, administrative offices, faculty and professors as well as a Library for the on ground students. As of next month they will consolidate all floors into 1 floor. they will no longer have an administrative suite(that included the University President, Provost, VP fiance etc.)

In addition, they are closing the Library and removing the faculty offices. All Admin offices and call center will now be located on one floor. I think this is another sign that they will be closing the University of the Rockies Campus next. it may be a while as they desperately try to get more on ground student, but i just dont see it happening as they have too much competition in downtown Denver. it wouldn't surprise me if they try to sell the school. Even their online population is only around 1500 students. it has had no growth for at least 3 yrs now. Good luck to all the staff that are still in Denver. hope you have your resumes up to date.

Anon..i totally agree. UoR specializes in Psychology and Human Services, they have never presented themselves as the Premier school that student need to attend. Instead of staying in Colorado Springs where they could have succeeded, they chose to move the school to Downtown Denver right next to The University of Colorado, Metro state and Denver University. Instead of having their own buildings the decided to put their school in a shopping mall. REALLY? NO free parking for students, so students either have to pay for parking, take the train or ride a bus to class at night as they don't offer daytime classes. Very high tuition. they are now closing the Library and they wonder why they cant attract students to the campus? REALLY? The previous university president had NO vision for the campus, thus the downfall.

Oh and BTW, if anyone saw the news piece on UoR a few weeks ago in Denver, it was all staged. The "students" they showed in class were actually employees pretending to be students. What a shame, this school could have be great had the left it in Colorado Springs.. but now it will be just like Ashford. they will close the Downtown campus(hasn't happened yet) and just be an online school.

A new Brookings Institution study just indicated that for-profit colleges in general provide a negative return on investment. How many Bridgepoint employees provide significant value to the students and US government? What courses at Ashford or University of the Rockies couldn't be a better value at a community college or public college or university?.................... http://pulse.ncpolicywatch.org/2015/07/17/yet-another-study-casts-doubt-on-for-profit-colleges/

All of us are on the chopping block. They will have to cut to stop the stock price slide, and it'll continue sliding. There is no way, under any conditions, that we'll recover enrollment numbers and something has to be done - they will cut payroll first, eliminated spend, consolidate leases, anything that they can do to slow down the stock price decline. Now, many folks in my group are disillusional and think that things will be improved, but think about it - the government is after every single for profit school, they do not like the concept and they are concerned with the debt levels and lack of gainful employment after folks graduate. So, there is no way out - it's over.
