Green card holders are most likely safe. The fact that QCOM actually spent the money to get them to green card status means they have some talent. H1Bs--depends. Recent hires are probably safe. More expensive long-term H1Bs--not so much. Contractors, depends. Consultants--most likely safe. These are guys with skills that are difficult to come by and can name their price. The people from body shops--how do you say bye-bye in Hindi? Older employees--most likely to get laid off before younger.

ON the contrary ....think about it .contract workers cost the company far less that full time regular !!!!!Gosh guys what is wrong with you? How can you not know that they are the ones Qualcomm would want to employ in uncertain times. CHEAPER
Look around your dept. there have been several new hires on CONTRACT recently people.
PLEASE wake up !
Contractors are disposable.
I doubt the contractors & H1Bs Will be let go at all. QUALCOMM saves money on them even if they're more expensive because they don't have to pay medical insurance, life insurance, give them higher on bonuses, RS use and so forth. It's the full-time employees that are going to feel the brunt of of this
that sucks really ... what a f***ing place to work ... good luck guys
H1B will be kicked out first, contractors next in line..
that make sense they will layoff contractos first ... still 1300 missing
There are 2700 contractors.
