Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Are GTFO packages reduced/diluted in proportion to the number of people who will be ordered to GTFO?

The 12/10/2014 GTFO packages came with the WARN notice (60 days pay) in addition to a base severance of 2mo plus 2 weeks pay per year served. What is the expectation for the value of the GTFO package given that so many will be ordered to GTFO this time around?

One exception: They have to pay you something in addition to what they are obligated to pay you for a waiver of your right to sue them. Your employer is obligated to pay your outstanding salary and commissions, unused paid vacation and any unused sick days if included under your contract, in addition to compensation for any waiver of your right to sue. The compensation for the waiver should be more than de minimus (token amt.). If your employment is terminated pursuant to the WARN Act, they have to pay 60 days salary from the date of the notice.

Giving someone immediate notice of being fired or leaving is rude and impolite, but in the US, it's legal. Your employment offer letter doesn't say anything about severance. Read it. QC is not obligated to pay...it's just a good will. With money tight, I won't be surprised if things change.
