I think this is an unofficial leak which official....so that it doesn't come as a "shock" ...those who are claiming that the information is from this site are in denial.....because 4000 number was floated a few months back...... there is so much dead fat in QUALCOMM that it is time to get rid off..... 9 more days for the d day

At the earning release, S&M has to offer some kind of headcount reduction through whatever means, PIP, layoffs, firing, etc. Q3 revenue was already forecasted down, and that forecast did not anticipate a China meltdown. Earning will take a bigger hit, because QTL revenue will start to reflect the slowdown in China this year. I think 5k is only the beginning. To get a bigger band for the buck, QC will have to reduce headcounts paid in dollars.
I heard that they do PIP on bogus grounds to scare people off and then force them to resign so it wont be counted as involuntary termination...very very sneaky practice if its true.
Let's see how the last layoff turned out:
official 600 --> actual 1500 (i.e. 900 down through attrition and ... oh yes plenty of PIPs)
now not yet official 4k --> actual ??? (hmm that 5k number is not looking so far fetched after all)
I'll trust Fudzilla over the QCOM management any day.

They changed number 5K to 4K....not sure we will every know exact count..as qcom is sneaky and use backdoor PIP to keep actual number hidden

It's called FUD for a reason. Not pulitzerilla. Also, unnamed sources are the oil that lubricates the journalistic machine. Time will answer all the questions about the authors integrity.
But a RUMOR IS A RUMOR! how can this so call journalist write that piece of shit article citing "industry sources". What this guy is doing is GOSSIP not journalism. It must be the Internet era of likes, shares and views.
On the plus side, since the majority of employees are CLUELESS and think all is well, that layoffs are for companies like msft and intc, and think JANA is just the HR generalist's name, perhaps articles like this will be a wake-up call
