So 4000-5000 wouldn't be disappointing from a cost cut perspective, either QC Senior management ups the ante on the cost cut or Analyst targets cut further, is that the veiled threat?

Its naive to think that analyst are trying to make you money... it's always other way around...but sometimes they are wrong also, so pick your bet based on ur risk tolerance level..
@114590: Exactly. I think Goldman Sachs has been busy dumping Chinese stocks. They're of course telling everyone else to buy so that they can sell to the muppets at a higher price.
Anon114590: I got a chuckle out of your comment, as I've often thought that analysts just point in the direction of the herd and are terrified of saying anything out of line. That said, all the analysts are also pointing to Strong Buy on AAPL, and I'd tend to say they happen to have that right currently. Of course, it's also obvious :).
I think in the end you have to make your own assessment about any stock, but this gives me an idea for an ETF: an ETF which does the opposite of what analysts are saying :). Does such an ETF exist?
Sorry to all employees to drift in stock talk direction. End of my comment on this.
Haven't you guys figured out yet that you should always do the opposite of what analysts say? They put a sell rating on a stock so they can tank the price and buy at lower prices from the sheeple.
no worry. The Street is mainly bullish on Qualcomm stocks. Out of 39 analysts who cover the stock, 21 suggest a Buy, while 16 indicate a Hold. The 12-month average target price stands at $72.38, implying upward potential of 17% over the trading price of $61.86 as of in the pre-market trading session
What does Merrill know about building chips. When we are shipping hundreds of millions of AP, we need more people, or it seems that the number of people correlates to shipping volume.
According to Merrill Lynch, Qualcomm’s QCT has one of the worst operating structures in the industry, with higher expenses and lower margins per employee, when compared to Mediatek and other semi players. Merrill Lynch expects management to discuss the extent of cost reductions on the 3Q call, reiterating its 20-22% target, to be achieved through cost cuts, supply chain management and market share regains.
