Heard this from a friend in QCT: supposedly, one building that is not really occupied at present is being prepared for all the people who are given their WARN notices. Because they get two months before they have to leave the company, they will be moved to this "Dead Man/Woman Walking" building for their remaining time so they won't make morale even worse for those who avoid the axe. If this is true, this is truly diabolical.

I guess this the building access AQ( used to red brick building)...anyone has connection in QREF to confirm?
Lucky guys!!!,Outside market is pretty good ,I am sure after 1 year when they look back they will find that its best thing happened one of the best thing happened in their life..
You'll know it when you see it on 7/23. It will be the building with the huge "Cube Farm of the Damned" sign over the entrance. . . . Is it true that medical marijuana is covered under the QCOM Rx plan?
@Anonymous114524 .. ".. Anyone with any longevity at QC knows they handled layoffs with as much respect to the outgoing employees as possible including allowing them to remain at work for their remaining employment period. . Get a clue." ))==== you're a herpes-covered-dick idiot! get your fact straight! That's totally wrong. You go get a f*cking clue.
Qcom is no longer a good company as it use to be..currently its not employees friendly and want to exploit employees as much as possible.
Anonymous114524, you're a naive idiot if you think the way QC did things in the past has any relevance how this large one will be handled. Pull your head out of your ass and realize it's 2015, not 2000. Irwin and Dan S. aren't here any more to make sure things are done "compassionately".
You people are idiots who clearly have no knowledge of how QC handles layoffs or packages. Stop making shit up in your head and listening to unfounded rumors from other idiots. Anyone with any longevity at QC knows they handled layoffs with as much respect to the outgoing employees as possible including allowing them to remain at work for their remaining employment period. . And they don't waste money moving people for solely layoff purposes. Get a clue.
As I said in the original thread, I only heard this as a rumor. I don't know if it's true. Just posted as a "what if"?
@114375: Although demand is high, there is no waiting list to GTFO. Everybody has a fair & equal chance but priority will be given to those who came first.
@14375 Sign me up if there is a way.
Is there a way to opt for layoff? 2 week/yr severance looks very very attractive....
Company need to give some job placement service also ( to look good) so hosting all these thing in separate building does not sees impossible, OP " might" be correct ( or spreading a rumour..)
I dont think your badge is disabled, you are treated as employed for those 2 months...unless there is some bad blood...
WARN notice means you hand in your badge, laptop, office key, get "processed", provide your updated contact info etc so they can send you cobra info, and final cheque at the end of 2 month. Then you leave the premises or GTFO and don't return. You stay on payroll for 2 month with full benefits, including 401k match and medical and stock vesting, if there is a vest schedule.
No one will be sitting in a bldg playing with their dick for another 2 months.
And the largest building that Q owns can house less than 1000 people, even with double occupancy, perhaps?
Are they modifying the sprinkler systems and doors before the move in?
AM has a history, but it can only take in some 200 at a time. How many a day can you "process" off of that building?
Whoever enters Q never leaves.
Arbeit macht Freihet!
C how ridiculous this thread is?
That's f*cking humiliating. Let them stay at home. They don't have to show up for work. God damn. FYI, I've already backed up some "stuff" for future references. lol
Is it the building opposite to K? We can have layoff parties in K...-:)
OMG...Do they feed them at all? Are they allowed to fart?
60 day Startup incubator / keg party
Makes sense to have outplacement and counseling services all in one location.
Will this building have a restroom for people to use at all?
Which building will house these people?
Sounds like the gas chamber at Auschwitz.
