I have left Qualcomm a year back. Is this Raj Talluri? One of the few actually more competent senior management folks in my opinion
Yes, something is not correct..looks their going to be very large cut in APSS and this guy did not want to deal with it..
I understand that he was thinking about it for a long time, but didn't it happen way too suddenly? Even the lowly bottom feeders who are dispensable need to give a two-week notice at the very least. So, surely a SVP would have a longer transition process? Didn't one of the senior blokes (it was some Asian guy if memory serves me right) who retired a year or so back work for a few months more to ease the transition process?
Actually he has been thinking about retirement for a long time. Hopefully this time he can get what he wants.
He might be fine, but what about the organization he left behind. Great timing too, just before the July earnings call which promises update on cost control
when you've worked 25+ years in mngmt, overseeing a steadily increasing work force, you can afford an early retirement.
He wanted to encourage SW excellence @ Q when he was promoted to this position, but the real owners of Q are HW minded, so that didn't quite fly.
He'll be fine going forwards. No worries.
Wasn't that sudden? Announce retirement, last day a week from announcement. HR head had a 3 month heads up.
Yeah consolidation and cost cutting. Many people in that org will eventually be fired.
