Solid news for all you Chemies..... 30% staff reduction for P&T - announcement within the month I believe. (That's January 2017). But don't let it get you down! Boom & Bust is what this business has always been. And even if you become "redundant", keep your chin up and let your exit message be "thanks, and contact me if I can ever help you". Shell is a great company and has a way of re-hiring those who can (and want) to bring value to the bottom line. Good luck & best wishes!
get this... for yrs I was a 1.0....then I came under my new boss, and that guy would never give me a good IPF, no matter how hard I tried. I worked everyday of the week!!!,, vacations, Christmas holidays, I resolved issues when no one else was around and didn't know what to do. I came up with great ideas to improve the way we do our jobs, created 'tool's on my own personal time to help the business to be more productive, The business always thanked me, co-workers too, EVEN the vendors!! ...and now I'm being laid off. My boss gave me a crappy IPF and when I asked why, there was silence , even when I kept pressing, no answer....and then finally told me, "it is not performance, HR had a lot do with it". Now I'm training my replacement. Everyone I tell I'm being laid-off because of 'low performance' laughs and don't believe me cause everyone knows how I work. Shell has insulted me.
Why would Shell keep 30% of low performers on the books for this long? And what is the definition of a low performer? Please don't tell me a .8 or .9 employee. When I was given a .9 I was told to keep up the good work because .9 is what the average employee was getting. I was happy then but scared now...
Same goes for P&T - I just don't understand all the nonsense posted about only low performers leaving. How can Shell have a) 30% "low performers" b) weren't you all told that the low performers were already notified and gone by Aug 30th? and c) the 30% is over and above the low performers and contractors??? Or is everyone just in denial because something of this scale has never happened in Shell? Its 1 in 3, people! One in 3 will be gone by Nov 30th, and its not your IPF. Its your salary. Wake up and smell the coffee. P&T will "adjust" once the numbers are in for UA. Hence TH on Aug 31st. Jeez ... do you all have to be told everything...
