Interns do nothing important in QCT and they most certainly do not count toward headcount reductions.
Last time I checked, interns did most of the work, staffer managed them, sr staffers managed staffers, directors managed sr staffers, sr directors managed the directors, and so on. How will the company survive till next summer?
And remember, that 15% layoff is not from each department or group. It's the bottom 15% no matter what the group. So some groups may lose 20% and another 10%.
The announcement stated a reduction of 15% full time employees and scale back of temporary employees. Interns count toward temporary employees. It is probably good to get rid of the interns, because they only take up you time teaching them the basic stuff.
