Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Is this legal?

Can Nov close a plant, lay off everyone with a written notice including the last date for each person, not give 60 warn notice, then change their mind and tell people they aren't letting them go yet even if their date came up?

Agreed not very professional and kind of cruel. You know the axe is coming but you don't know when and you can't even start looking for another job.

It's legal, might not be very professional but since when did that ever stop NOV. The only question on legality could be when Unions are involved and they are in breach of contract. I assume this is not that case and so yes, legal. Again, unprofessional and shows a complete lack of organization and planning but that's what NOV is known for.
