Wow - brutal people on here. What has happened to human kindness. Oh my god I misspelled a word. I should be beaten and shot. If you're the one reading this that wrote these horrible things about grammar then shame on you. No one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. To devalue people for flaws in their writing skills doesn't mean they don't have value. Engineers and programmers aren't writer but, they're smarter than the average bear. Much smarter than you. Let's just say you're an ASS and I feel sorry for people that have to be around you in any way. You will be a lonely narcissistic individual for the rest of you life. Go crawl into a hole somewhere. You'll be much happier alone.
I believe the well-written first hand accounts of these activities. I don't believe the poorly worded accounts from the knuckle-dragging mouth breathers on here who are just stirring up rumors.
me no agree
Conducting random drug tests is something I've always thought was needed in IT. I support that action.
There should also be periodic background check updates done yearly to ensure no one has been arrested. In addition, periodic basic English grammar and composition proficiency tests should be required to show improvement where there is a deficiency or an automatic pay decrease/termination.
You are so funny. The fact is it is not a lie. IT is still downsizing. I was told it was a continuation of the the April layoffs. They are just trying to stay out of the news. Devon is also conduction random drug tests on IT employees. You know why they are doing this right!! ; It's not my company anymore and they can go to #@34934 with you MF.
why keep spreading lies? what king of fumb ducks do that? Are you hoping for your own company failure?
What's so unfortunate is that there is this assumption about IT, that everything IT does can be done cheaper, faster and with fewer people. This attitude has been around forever and it shows up in so many different ways, from people getting pissed off when they're PC doesn't work to managers bitching because the actual staff needed is 3x what they've budgeted. Well guess what - it takes a lot of work to keep IT up and running smoothly.
Why CIOs continue to lay IT people off as a cost saving measure is beyond me. They'll lose that 10 year SME expertise, outsource to domestic companies at $100+/hr with double the ramp-up time for the business rules, or offshore to India for triple the hourly rate/ramp-up time.
Why do they keep hitting IT so hard? Any plans for other departments? What about the assets?
