Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Besides upcoming layoff, it would interesting to find out how many GTFO packages are being offered during this review period? Attrition?

There was not a volunteer package offered, if you want to go, I know many that have left on their own or been asked to leave, at higher levels it seems.

Why would anyone leave if you get loaded with RSUs like they have no cost to the company. But now, that they are taking that away, I would not be surprised to see much higher attrition.

There's a hell of a lot of attrition going on, at least in SV. Why stay on a sinking ship when you can GTFO, go across the street, and get a 30% pay raise in the process?

liquidation, and acquisition mode: "Qualcomm ( QCOM -0.5%), via its Atheros Wi-Fi/connectivity chip unit, is buying DSL modem/infrastructure IC and home network processor vendor Ikanos (NASDAQ: IKAN) for $2.75/share, or roughly $47M based on Ikanos' Q2 diluted share count. The price represents a 57% premium to Ikanos' Wednesday close. The deal is expected to close by year's end. Ikanos' products complement Qualcomm/Atheros home Wi-Fi and wireline networking offerings. Qualcomm: "The combination of Qualcomm Atheros' broad home gateway IP portfolio, including Wi-Fi, powerline, small cell, and Ethernet switch technologies, and Ikanos' advanced wired modem technology, is designed to create a complete solution for a wide range of home gateway products to better serve the carrier segment." Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf suggested last week his company would make new chip acquisitions"

What I heard attrition will not have much impact ( except in very key R&D projects), They are hoping for good attrition so they can exceed target and save cost.Idea is to move things to low cost center as soon and as cheaply possible... There is no roadmap to revive/regrow SD QCT. 15% is just the minimum..
